Suica NEX (Suica & N’EX) Travel Package

Suica NEX

The Suica NEX (Suica & N’EX) travel package combines the convenience of the Suica smart card and the Narita Express train from Narita into Tokyo at a single low discount price, giving users the fastest ride into Tokyo from Narita International Airport and the simplest and most convenient means of paying for train fares thereafter.

Overview of Suica & N’EX

The Suica & N’EX is a fantastic travel package that is definitely worth considering if you are flying into Narita International Airport and heading to Tokyo or Yokohama.

The Narita Express is the quickest and most convenient means of getting to Tokyo or Yokohama from Narita Airport. And trust us, after a grueling international flight, you’re going to want to complete the final leg as expediently as possible!

The Suica card is a convenient rechargeable card that enables users to ride trains in Japan without the confusion of having to figure out fares and buy tickets each time.

Put them both together and you have Suica & N’EX, a nifty travel package that combines budget travel, expediency, and convenience all in one!

How to Purchase Suica & N’EX

Suica & N’EX can only be purchased at Narita Airport. Purchase upon arrival at the Narita Airport Travel Service Center in Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. The ticket can also be purchased at the JR Ticket Offices (Midori no Madoguchi) located. in each terminal.

The cost of Suica & N’EX is 3,500 yen, of which 1,500 yen is applied to the Narita Express fare (normally about 3,000 to 4,000 yen depending upon the destination) and the remaining 2,000 is applied to the Suica card (of which 500 yen is a refundable deposit).

How to Use the Suica NEX Card

When you purchase the Suica & N’EX package, you will receive a Suica card plus a Narita Express ticket. Use the NEX ticket for your ride into Tokyo or Yokohama.

Thereafter, you can use the Suica card on the JR and other trains in and around Tokyo and elsewhere in Japan. The 1,500-yen balance will probably only be enough for a few short train rides, but you can recharge the Suica card at JR ticket machines, and thereafter avoid the considerable hassle of figuring out and purchasing fares for each train ride, which can sometimes be a daunting task for Japan first-timers.

In summary, upon arrival at Narita you may be exhausted and inclined to “just get to our hotel as quickly as possible.” But taking a few extra minutes at the airport to pick up the Suica & N’EX package will definitely save you both time and money in the long run!
